Kitchen Fire Destroys Unit In 7-Story Naperville Building

A fire that started on a home's stove displaced residents from a unit in a seven-story building in Naperville.

NAPERVILLE, IL — At least three residents were displaced from their home after a fire broke out in the kitchen of their unit in a seven-story residence in the 700 block of Royal St. George Friday afternoon.

Fire crews got to the scene around 4:24 p.m. to find "light smoke" coming from the building's sixth floor, a news release said. A fire was found in the kitchen of a unit on that floor and crews were able to put out the blaze within 20 minutes.

One person was evaluated at the scene and released after the fire, which left the affected unit uninhabitable. Residents in other units were able to return to their homes after the fire was put out. The total damage was estimated at $25,000.
