Lightning Strike Ignites Garage On Larsen Lane

The fire caused around $40,000 in damage to the property.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A bolt of lightning caused a fire that led to $40,000 in damage to a Naperville home Tuesday.

Firefighters were called to the 1400 block of Larsen Lane around 3:10 p.m. for a report of a fire in an attached garage. During the call, the homeowner reported that the garage had been hit by lightning.

When crews arrived at the scene, they saw flames had begun to spread to a living space above the garage. The fire was contained in under 10 minutes, according to a news release.

No residents or firefighters were hurt and the garage was deemed habitable after the fire.
