Lightning Strike Leaves Apartment Uninhabitable: Naperville Fire Department
Lightning hit a building the 3300 block of Rosecroft Lane.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A lightning strike left an apartment uninhabitable Wednesday night in Naperville, but firefighters were able to stop the blaze from spreading. The Naperville Fire Department said it received a call of a lightning strike but no apparent fire in the 300 block of Rosecroft Lane at around 7:06 p.m. A dispatcher advised residents to evacuate, and a second 911 call soon came in from a resident reporting smoke coming from the roof of the building, fire officials said.
Firefighters arrived on the scene within three minutes of the initial call to find heavy smoke from the roof of the two-story multi-family home. Once crews were sure all residents were out of the building, they located the fire in the attic of the building, ventilated the building and extinguished the blaze, which primarily involved the roof and the attic.
The main body of the fire was out within 20 minutes, officials said. Companies remained on the scene conducting salvage and extinguishing any hidden fire, officials said.
