In this day and age, kids spend an insane amount of time posting on social media, playing video games like Fortnite and Animal Crossing, and generally surfing the web. It’s easy to assume that all that online exposure has made this generation less sociable and less self-reflective.

Find out what's happening in Napervillefor free with the latest updates from Patch.

11-year-old Hana Rahman, a 5th grader who loves volleyball, swimming, and the new Wonder Woman movie, proves that’s not the case. Kindhearted and shy at first glance, Hana is a third-time finalist for Eye Level Learning Center’s Annual Oratacular Speech Contest.

This is no small feat when you really peel it all back. Hundreds of students enter this contest every year, and they come from all parts of North America, competing for the chance to win a once-of-a-lifetime trip to Korea. The panel of judges, meanwhile, assesses each student on their public speaking skills, which for a young girl like Hana, is nothing short of terrifying. Even grown adults have to picture the crowd in their underwear just to get through a public speech!

“Winning the Oratacular Contest would mean a lot of things,” says Hana, “I would finally get to go to Korea, one of the places I always wanted to go. I’d get to bring my family with me, but most of all, I’d prove to myself that I can do anything if I work towards it.”

So what can you do to help Hana achieve her dream? Check out her inspiring contest entry on YouTube, give it a “thumbs up,” and be sure to share with your friends and family. The student with the most likes will win the contest and get that chance to go to Korea. Who knows how a trip like this could shape her mind and propel her into the future?

As Hana’s hero Wonder Woman once said, “I yearn for more from my life. I yearn for purpose.” Your purpose has been realized today. Head to YouTube and listen to Hana’s speech about the invention that will make our lives easier, and take her words to heart. We all have the power to be the change we want to see in the world, and it starts by simply looking in the mirror and giving a girl like Hana the opportunity of a lifetime.

Thank You
