Naperville, IL – LTC. (ret.) Michael D. Pierce, candidate for Congress in the 11th District, says President Trump’s decision to strike Iran is a needed response to preserve the historic Middle East peace agreement his administration brokered last year.

“The President has made it clear that Iran will never have a nuclear weapon,” Pierce said. “The United States has tried repeatedly to reach a deal peacefully with Iran but time after time Iran has made it clear they are not interested in peace leaving the United States no choice but to take action.”

Pierce said he expects the President will keep his word and not turn the actions in Iran into a long, drawn-out war with no end in sight.

“The last thing we need is another Iraq,” Pierce said. “I take the President at his word that this will not be a repeat of the war in Iraq. While I support the action he is taking against Iran, I do not support a long war with no clear objective. For the sake of our troops and for the safety of our nation, there must be clearly outlined objectives to the action the President is taking.”
