LTC (Ret) Michael Pierce: Jeff Walter needs to do his homework and learn district boundaries

Naperville, IL – LTC (Ret) Michael Pierce, candidate for Congress in the 11th District, says Jeff Walter must have slept through his training on the boundaries for the District as he continues to demonstrate a complete lack of understanding of just how many counties are included in the 11th.

One example is a social media post in which he lists polling places for Cook, McHenry, Kane, and DuPage Counties but he left out Will, Lake, Boone, and DeKalb Counties.

Then Walter was on WRMN radio and was asked to name all of the counties in the 11th District. Walter was able to name six but left out DuPage and Boone Counties. Then he remembered DuPage, but he left out Boone County and made a comment about how his campaign manager was not going to be happy.

“Being asked to name the counties in the District you are running to represent was never intended to be a ‘gotcha’ question, and yet here we are,” Pierce said. “I apparently have an unexpected advantage in this race as I have been campaigning in counties one of my opponents does not seem to know are part of the district. But in all seriousness, my opponent’s blunder is understandable given the gerrymandering taking place in Illinois. The district boundaries in the 11th make absolutely no sense. We need an independent commission to draw legislative districts in Illinois.”

LTC (retired) Mike Pierce, PhD is a resident of Naperville. He graduated North Central College and went in to the Army, first as a Chaplain Assistant, and later on earned his commission in the Signal Corps, after completing Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia in April 1994. After 20 serving years, he retired from the Army in 2012 and continued to work at U.S. European Command and U.S. AFRICOM as a DOD Contractor in exercise planning, assessment, and functional analysis of critical infrastructure.
