Mall Of India To Open In Naperville In July
The mall will include a grocery store, a halal butcher shop, and more in the former Walmart location on Route 59.

NAPERVILLE, IL --- The former Walmart location at 776 Route 59 won't be empty for long. Crews have begun construction on Mall of India, which will fill the 116,000 square foot space with 10 dining spots, a halal butcher shop, a grocery store, and more, Daily Herald reports.
Shilpa Purohit, the architect behind the project, told Daily Herald that the Mall of India is a "fresh idea." Purohit added that the concept, which aims to cater to Indian-Americans, will serve Naperville's "large concentration of Asian and Indian populations."
More than two dozen tenants will offer services and items for sale. The lineup includes jewelers, a spa, specialty shops, and an attorney's office.

The building has been vacant for five years, since Walmart relocated to 75th Street. The Mall of India, which may eventually include a gathering space in the building's former lawn and garden area, is set to open July 1.
