Man, 19, Killed In Single-Car Crash On Commons Road In Naperville

A 25-year-old man who was a passenger in the car was hospitalized with critical injuries.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 19-year-old man was killed and a 25-year-old male passenger was critically hurt in a single-car crash that took place near the intersection of Commons Road and Conestoga in Naperville early Thursday.

Police say the 19-year-old was driving a black 2016 Audi A6 east on Commons toward Conestoga "at a high rate of speed" when the car went off the road and hit a tree just after 4:15 a.m., a news release said. The teen was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash and his passenger, the 25-year-old man, was taken to a nearby hospital.

The Naperville Police Department's traffic unit remained at the scene for several hours to reconstruct and investigate the crash. Commons Road was still closed near Conestoga as of 10 a.m. Thursday.
