Man, 77, Fatally Hit By Car While Crossing Street In Naperville

Police say the man was hit by a car while he crossed Brom Drive Wednesday afternoon.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A 77-year-old Naperville man died Wednesday after he was hit by a car while crossing Brom Drive, police say.

The man was hit by a Chevrolet SUV as he attempted to cross the street at Martin Avenue just before 1 p.m. A news release said the man "succumbed to his injuries despite life-saving efforts at the scene."

The driver of the SUV, a 48-year-old man from Romeoville, was not hurt and was released amid the ongoing investigation.

The Naperville Police Department's Traffic Unit arrived at the scene to reconstruct the crash and begin their investigation, which closed the intersection until just before 4 p.m.
