NAPERVILLE, IL — A man was injured and shots were fired during what Naperville police are calling a "targeted incident" that took place at a home in the 1500 block of west Jefferson Avenue early Sunday.

Police arrived at the home around 12:45 a.m. after they received a report that there was a fight and that shots had been fired. Officers found a man who had been battered, but found no one who had been shot at the scene, a news release said.

Police say a preliminary investigation suggests that the injured man had been targeted after he was involved in a "dispute." The man was confronted by "multiple people" when he got home and was then battered "with a shot being fired," according to the news release.
