NAPERVILLE, IL — A Massachusetts man is accused of leaving a lengthy voicemail making vague threats to "terrorize" a Catholic school in Naperville. The call also mentioned Archbishop Blase Cupich, although no specific threat was reportedly made against the clergyman. William H. MacKinnon, 48, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts is also accused of threatening a Wheaton police officer and the Wheaton fire chief, according to WGN.
MacKinnon is charged with harassment by telephone, threatening a public official, phone harassment/making a lewd comment and making a false report of a threat to a school or persons, according to DuPage County court records.
MacKinnon left the voicemail at St. Raphael Catholic School on Feb. 7, and while he didn't make any specific threats of violence, Naperville police told NBC Chicago that the message was "harassing and threatening in nature."
The four-minute message was left on the school principal's voicemail, according to WGN.
A misdemeanor warrant against MacKinnon issued in late March was dropped after he was arrested on felony charges in April, according to NBC.
