Men Accused Of Into Breaking Into Naperville Home, Beating Resident

Police say two men broke into a home on Sleight Street, entered the resident's bedroom while they were sleeping and then beat him.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Two men are in custody after police say they broke into a home on Sleight Street in Naperville, entered a bedroom while the residents were sleeping and beat one of the residents.

Ricardo Jimenez-Velazquez, 36, of the 1000 block of Heritage Hills Drive, and Luis Rojas, 30, of the 1100 block of Whispering Hills Drive, were each charged with felony home invasion causing injury in connection with the May 10 incident. They are being held in DuPage County Jail on $150,000 bond.

Police say the pair broke into the home around 6:30 a.m. and walked into a bedroom where a man and his daughter, a minor, were sleeping.

The resident asked the men to leave, according to police. Jimenez-Velazquez and Rojas are accused of kicking and punching the man "multiple times," a news release said. Jimenez-Velazquez and Rojas were taken into custody the same day.

“It is alleged that in the early morning hours, these two defendants illegally entered the victim’s home while he and his minor daughter were sleeping and proceeded to beat the man in front of his daughter,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a news release.

Berlin added, “People have the right to feel safe in their homes and it is alleged that these two men violated the security a home provides. Thankfully, the victim appears to be on the mend and is expected to recover from his injuries."

Jimenez-Velazquez is set to appear in court June 8 and Rojas is schedule for a court appearance June 15.
