Missing Lovebird Sought In Naperville; Reward Offered
The peach-faced lovebird was last seen in the Ashbury subdivision Sunday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville family is offering a $200 reward for help getting their beloved lovebird, who went missing Aug. 29, home safely. The peach-faced lovebird, named Lucky, lives in the 2000 block of Tomahawk Lane and was last seen near the intersection of Brossman and Frost in the Ashbury subdivision.
Lucky has a green body with some gray and orange markings and an orange-hued face. Its tail is green, orange, and blue with a single tail feather missing.
"I always wanted a lovebird," owner Agnese told Patch, describing how they were put on a wait list to get their bird from a store in Batavia. She described her first encounter with the bird as "love from a first sight."

On Aug. 29, Agnese's 13-year-old daughter came outside to greet her while tightly holding lucky in her hands. The girl noticed that Agnese's SUV window had been broken by landscapers and opened her hands in surprise.
That's when Lucky flew off.

The male bird had clipped wing feathers, so he was initially only able to glide, but not fly. Agnese said the feathers have grown since they brought Lucky home a month ago, so that's likely why he can fly now.
At first, Lucky, who is three months old, flew up into the trees and would not come down, despite his family calling him. By 2 a.m., Agnese said there was no trace of Lucky.
On Sept. 12, a woman texted Agnese to report that she spotted Lucky flying south on Frost Lane in Naperville's Ashbury subdivision.
If you have seen this bird or have any information about its whereabouts, call Agnese at 708-571-0771 or 630-340-8190.
