Musicians Selected for Naperville Battle of the Bands

The first place winner will perform at Ribfest.

The community is invited to listen to some of the top high school rock bands as they compete in the Naperville Park District Youth Ambassadors’ 13th annual Battle of the Bands. The event is free and will take place from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, May 6 at the Community Concert Center in Central Park, located at 104 E. Benton Ave.

Nine bands from four area high schools will compete as finalists based on their applications and the quality of their demo recordings. The order of performance will be as follows:

  • Second Grade - Neuqua Valley High School
  • Whatever You're Into - Neuqua Valley High School
  • Hot Famales - Neuqua Valley High School
  • Opaque Blind - Metea & Neuqua Valley High Schools
  • Manhattan Moonmen - Naperville North High School
  • The Works - Neuqua Valley High School
  • Bunny Repellent - Naperville Central High School
  • The Flukes - Neuqua Valley High School
  • Something to Live By - Neuqua Valley High School

The first place winner will perform at Ribfest at a time to be determined and will advance to the Illinois Park District Association’s Regional Battle of the Bands with a chance to perform at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield. The second and third place finishers will play at the Naperville Park District’s Rollin’ on the River series on the Riverwalk this summer.

Additionally, the second place band will open for the June 4 Barn Farewell Celebration, a free event to be held at the Barn Recreation Center, located at 421 W. Martin Ave.

Performances will be followed by the awarding of the top honors. The event is scheduled to conclude at approximately 8:00 p.m.

Concert t-shirts listing all of the bands will be available for $15 at the event.

The Youth Ambassadors is a group of high school students who work with the Naperville Park District to plan community-wide special events for teens each year.
