NAPERVILLE, IL — It's that time of the year again, when downtown Naperville is set to sparkle with hundreds of twinkling lights for NaperLights at Water Street and along the Riverwalk. The 2022 edition of NaperLights will feature a new projected light display that debuts Dec. 2, a giant Christmas bear and other fun features, with the festivities kicking off on Thanksgiving.

Presented by the Naperville Sunrise Rotary, NaperLights will brighten trees, the covered bridge on Webster Street, light poles and other spaces with 150,000 festive lights. Select displays will be synced with holiday music that can be heard streaming across the DuPage River, a news release said.

Illuminated figures of ice skaters will perch atop Plaza Fountain, and the Honey Locust Tree at Jaycees Plaza will be lit by interactive lights that respond to clapping and other sounds.

Live music will be provided by Bach to Rock on Dec. 17 and Dec. 18. Kid can pick up 3-D glasses (while supplies last) to make the holiday lights stand out even more!

On Fridays and Saturdays, Santa Claus will be waiting near the Great Tree to pose for pictures with children and hear their holiday wish lists.

"Water Street is thrilled to be partnering with the Sunrise Rotary Club again to continue this popular family tradition. We were the first sponsors of the event years ago, so hosting on Water Street, where visitors can enjoy it every night through the holidays is awesome," Nick Ryan, CEO of Marquette Companies, said in a statement.

Ryan added, "We think families with relatives staying at Hotel Indigo will be delighted, and the spa, shops and restaurants on Water Street are eager to welcome you."

NaperLights 2022 will run from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. Thanksgiving through Jan. 5.
