Naperville Attorney Gets Stayed Suspension After DUI

He will be on probation for two years.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville attorney was suspended for 60 days with the suspension stayed after being convicted of driving under the influence.

Timothy John Coffey, who works at The Coffey Law Office in Naperville, was later charged with driving on a revoked license after his driver’s license was revoked due to the DUI, according to the Attorney Registration and Disciplinary Commission. Coffey also “inadvertently deposited money belonging to a client into his business account and issued checks to the client prior to those funds being collected.”

The suspension was stayed with a two-year period of conditional probation, the ARDC said. A stay defers the suspension as long as the lawyer complies with probationary conditions.
