Naperville Cops Find Meth, Psychedelic Mushrooms, Cellphones In Car During Traffic Stop: Police

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Wheaton man faces multiple felony charges after police say he had methamphetamine, psychedelic mushrooms, more than a dozen cellphones and a "large amount of cash" in his car during a traffic stop in Naperville.

Jahron J. Faulkner, 24, of the 700 block of West Liberty Dr., was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to deliver, possession of methamphetamine, aggravated fleeing and eluding, possession of a controlled substance, obstruction, resisting arrest, unlawful possession of cannabis by a driver and improper window tinting in connection with the July 22 incident.

Police pulled Faulkner over in a traffic stop in the first block of Whispering Hills Drive around 2:30 p.m. An officer reported smelling and seeing "evidence of cannabis" in the car, according to a news release from the Naperville Police Department.

Faulkner is accused of speeding away from the officer after he was asked to get out of the car. He is accused of stopping the car shortly after and trying to flee on foot.

Police took Faulkner into custody shortly after and reported that a search of his car yielded suspected methamphetamine, mushrooms, cash, cellphones and traces of cannabis, the news release said.

“This incident is another example of the proactive police work taking place every day in Naperville. Fleeing from the police at a high rate of speed through a residential neighborhood puts innocent people at risk, and we will not tolerate that kind of dangerous behavior in our community,” Naperville Police Chief Jason Arres said in a statement.

Arres added, “Thanks to the work of the officer who initiated this stop and the team that supported the investigation, a significant amount of suspected methamphetamine and other illegal drugs were taken off the street and the individual allegedly responsible is facing serious charges. If you come to Naperville and engage in criminal activity, our officers will work aggressively to identify you, arrest you, and hold you accountable.”
