Naperville Cops Host Event To Deter Catalytic Converter Thefts

The free Nov. 13 event will share tips on how to prevent people from stealing your catalytic converter after 48 were stolen in three months.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Police Department has teamed up with Cassidy Tire and Service to host an upcoming program aimed at deterring catalytic converter thefts in the city.

The Nov. 13 program, which will offer free ID numbers to be spray painted on catalytic converters, comes after 48 catalytic converters were stolen in Naperville between July 1 and Oct. 1, according to police.

Staff members from Cassidy Tire will be on hand to spray paint the ID numbers onto catalytic converters using high-temperature car exhaust spray. The initiative will help police track stolen catalytic converters and help lower the part's resale value.
