Naperville Cops Increase Patrols Ahead Of Thanksgiving Weekend
Naperville police will be on the lookout for impaired and distracted drivers in the days leading up to and following Thanksgiving.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Starting Monday, Naperville police will increase patrols for the Thanksgiving holiday to combat impaired and distracted driving.
"We want our community to understand that it’s up to them to make the smart decision to drive sober on Thanksgiving weekend and every day,” Naperville Police Sergeant Rick Krakow said in a news release.
Krakow continued, “Remember, if you’re going to drink or use other impairing substances, don’t drive. We will be stepping up patrols to keep impaired drivers off the roads and ensure everyone makes it home from their celebrations.”

Naperville police recommend the following tips for those celebrating the holiday:
- Plan a sober ride home ahead of the evening
- Use a ride-share service, taxi, public transportation or a designated driver if you have consumed alcohol or drugs
- Pull over and call 911 if you see someone who is driving under the influence
- Wear seatbelts and encourage passengers to do the same.
The crackdown part of the statewide Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over and Click It or Ticket campaigns and will be in effect through Nov. 29.
