NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville group is hoping to get Naperville’s flag changed.

Napervilleflag.org said on its website that the city’s current flag, which was created in 1974, is unrecognizable from afar.

“Naperville needs a flag that can parallel its greatness,” said the group on its website.

According to the website, Naperville’s flag is not allowed to be flown anywhere but government buildings.

“We want a flag that flies proudly around the entire city and outside homes. A flag that businesses proudly incorporate within their logos,” the website said. “A flag that the people of Naperville can rally behind. A flag that represents our values. A flag that is ours.”

To remedy that problem, the group is accepting submissions for new flag designs and sponsorships from city organizations and businesses.

The group is accepting design submissions for the new flag until June 15, 2016.
