Naperville Library Ranked Number One In U.S. By 'Library Journal'
The library system also earned a five-star ranking from the publication for the 14th consecutive time.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Public Library was recently recognized as the top library in the United States for 2022 by "Library Journal," a nationwide publication dedicated to supporting libraries.
The library's top ranking came in the category for library systems with expenditures of $10 million to $29.9 million. Naperville Public Library also earned a five-star ranking from "Library Journal" for the 14th consecutive year.
“Having the highest score in our category is a testament to our hard-working, knowledgeable and friendly staff as well as the support this community offers us every single day,” Naperville Public Library Executive Director Dave Della Terza said in a news release.

He added, “It’s clear that Naperville loves its library system, and the numbers reflect that."
In its 2022 rankings, "Library Journal" evaluated 5,359 libraries per the following metrics:

- Circulation of physical and virtual materials
- Public computer users and WiFi sessions
- Program attendance
- Library visits
- Website visits
“This year’s award is particularly meaningful because it is based off data from the 2020 calendar year,” Della Terza said. “During the struggles of the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, library staff worked hard to ensure we were still able to safely provide services to the community.”
