NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Public Library unveiled its new logo Monday to kick off National Library Week, which runs April 3 through April 9. The colorful new logo is part of a greater rebranding to make the library more welcoming to current and future patrons.

“Our rebranding project set out to be more than just an updated logo,” Naperville Public Library Executive Director Dave Della Terza said in a news release.

He added, “We hoped to refresh the entire look and feel of Naperville Public Library’s marketing to better engage our current customers and encourage non-users to explore our services.”

The new branding was the brainchild of Joy Riot and was the result of lengthy research that included surveys, focus groups and additional community feedback.

The logo's wavy design draws inspiration from 3-dimensional art made from books or paper. The colors —purple, green and orange— are intended to reflect the library's inviting nature, the news release said. Additionally, the purple stands for wisdom, the green stands for harmony and stability and the orange evokes creative vibes.

Della Terza said, "We believe Joy Riot summarized it best in saying, ‘Naperville Public Library is more than a traditional community library. It is a safe haven where curiosity is encouraged, tough questions are explored, and innovation leads to endless opportunities.' We know our new branding will help convey this idea to the Naperville community and will continue to set our five-star library apart in the years ahead.”
