The Naperville man appeared in bond court Wednesday afternoon at the George N. Leighton Criminal Court Building, where he was chided by the judge for being “foolish and arrogant” for allegedly bringing a gun to the airport, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
Reed explained that he had driven back to the Chicago area from Kentucky and forgot that he had the firearm in his bag.
Judge Adam Bourgeois Jr. had wanted to put Reed on electronic monitoring, but because Reed is a DuPage County resident, he can’t be in the program. The Sun-Times said that Reed was instead assigned to pretrial services.
Reed gives his occupation as a partnership manager for Bank of America Merrill Lynch on his Linkedin profile.
He also serves on the boards of two charitable organizations, Lumity and the Quad City Urban League in Aurora, according to Linkedin.
TSA officials said this was the first firearm discovered in carry-on luggage at Midway this year. Last year, six firearms were recovered.
