Naperville Man Charged With Shooting 2 Men In Drug Deal Gone Bad
Police say both men were hospitalized after the shooting.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man faces felony charges after police say he shot two men during a drug deal late Saturday. Yusuf Syed, 19, of the 200 block of Concord Road, was charged with aggravated battery with a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon, and one count of possession of cannabis with intent to deliver.
According to the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office, Syed met up with two men to sell them drugs in a parking lot on Fitness Drive. During the alleged drug deal, one of the men reportedly grabbed the bag of weed from Syed and attempted to flee with the other man.
Police say Syed drove after the men and shot them while he was driving. One man was shot in the lower torso and sustained a spinal cord injury, according to authorities. The other man was reportedly shot a total of three times in his legs.

DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said, "The charges against Mr. Syed illustrate that in the illegal underworld of drug dealers and their customers, things can turn potentially fatal in an instant. Thankfully, the injuries sustained by the victims in this case, while very serious, do not appear to be life-threatening."
Syed is being held at DuPage County Jail on $250,000 bond. If convicted, he faces a maximum sentence of 60 years.
