NAPERVILLE, IL — A Naperville man has won Will County Forest Preserve District's Preserve the Moment photography contest for August. Bertrand Leclercq’s winning photo of a praying mantis was taken at Riverview Farmstead Preserve, according to a news release.

“I specifically look for mantises in the goldenrods at the end of summer; they are not easy to spot,” Leclercq said in the news release. He added,“They will actually rotate their heads to look at you. Their colors vary from dark brown to green. The one in the picture had very pretty green eyes and posed for me!”

The Preserve the Moment monthly photo contest continues through Dec. 31 and is open to amateur photographers who are 18 and older. Click the link to learn how to submit a photo.
