Naperville Mariano's to Open Sometime in 2016
A new building will be constructed on the lot that formerly housed Dominick's.

Naperville residents looking for a new place to grocery shop just got a little more selection. Mariano’s is set to open sometime in 2016.
Naperville Development Partnership President Christine Jeffries said Mariano’s was looking in the neighborhood of the former Dominick’s location at 1300 S. Naper Blvd.
While the building that housed Dominick’s is still standing, Jeffries said the plan is to tear that building down and construct a new one for Mariano’s.

“They didn’t want to move into the existing Dominick’s store because it didn’t fit their footprint of what their stories look like,” Jeffries said.
Bradford Real Estate Co. purchased the shopping center and is working on the redevelopment of the Dominick’s building, Jeffries said.

“That required some planning official meetings, it required city council approvals and now they’re in for building permits, which are being reviewed by the city,” she said. “Basically the road ahead is pretty clear.”
Jeffries said she doesn’t see any problems arising with the building permits.
“It’s real positive for that area,” Jeffries said.
It’s not just city officials that are excited about this new economic development. Residents are happy about it, too.
“(The reaction’s been) fabulous. Truly over the moon. Mariano’s has a great reputation,” Jeffries said. “I think people are really excited about the product coming in.”
Once construction begins, Jeffries said it should take around nine months to build.
