Naperville Masseur Cupped Plainfield Woman's Breasts, Rubbed Her Nipples: Lawsuit

The masseur pleaded guilty to battery in a criminal case two years ago.

A Naperville masseur cupped a woman’s breasts and rubbed her nipples while he was giving her a massage, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.

Plainfield resident Jessica Perkins sued masseur Michael Barnabee, the Massage Envy company, the Massage Envy spa on Showplace Drive in Naperville, and Brian Penn, the president of Penbrock Enterprises. Penbrock Enterprises owns the Showplace Drive Massage Envy and two others.

Perkins showed up for a scheduled two-hour massage in May 2013 and Barnabee, 42, was assigned to take care of her, the lawsuit said.

“Approximately halfway through the massage, Barnabee requested that (Perkins) lie on her back,” the lawsuit said.

Perkins’ “breasts and other parts of her body were covered with a covering while (she was) on her back,” the suit said. “During this portion of the massage, Barnabee began to slide his hands down around (Perkins’) breasts underneath the covering. Barnabee was cupping her breasts with his hands. Barnabee began to move his fingers onto her nipples and began to rub (her) nipples with his fingers.”

When Perkins pulled the covering up to her neck, “Barnabee immediately stopped the massage” and then told her, “I’m sorry, I shouldn’t be doing that,” the suit said.

Barnabee apologized a second time after Perkins got dressed, telling her “sorry about all that,” the lawsuit said.

Perkins “immediately complained to her husband about what had occurred,” the lawsuit said, and the husband “levied a complaint with a Massage Envy manager on the same day about Barnabee’s conduct.”

Barnabee was arrested on a charge of battery a month and a half after the incident. He pleaded guilty three months later and was sentenced to court supervision and community service.

Perkins sued Barnabee in Cook County court six months ago. The case was moved to Will County this week.
