Naperville Municipal Band To Perform Patriotic Tunes July 1

The free concert will feature singalongs, historical reenactments with cannon shots, a bake sale and more.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Members of Naperville's Municipal Band will perform patriotic tunes July 1 in Central Park, 104 E. Benton Ave. The free, Independence Day-themed concert kicks off at 7:30 p.m. and features a Revolutionary War reenactment with cannon shots set to Tchaikovsky's 1812 Overture.

“The Independence Day Concert on July 1 will include all of the 4th of July classics with singalongs directed by Cathy Lord," Conductor Ron Keller said in a news release. Keller added, "We'll also feature wonderful marches and the 'Armed Forces Salute' in honor of local veterans' organizations.”

Featured songs include the "Star-Spangled Banner," John Philip Sousa's "Stars and Stripes Forever" and music by Glenn Miller. Audience members are invited to sing along to "America the Beautiful" and "God Bless America."

Those who attend the Independence Day Concert are encouraged to set up blankets and chairs in Central Park. Local nonprofit Lizzie's Fund will host a bake sale at the event.
