Naperville Police Chief Robert Marshall said there are a number of factors in play for this distinction, including the hard work police officers put into protecting the city.
The partnerships Naperville police have in play with many organizations, such as the school district, college and many nonprofits in the area have also proved beneficial.

Naperville residents are also very active in the area of crime prevention, according to Marshall.
“They report to us in a very timely manner any suspicious incidents that they see,” Marshall said. “In total, it’s a cooperative effort that help keeps our crime rate low.”
This isn’t the first time Naperville has received a safe city distinction. In 2014, Naperville was named the No. 4 safest mid-sized city in the nation by Movoto Real Estate.
