Naperville Park District to Collect Holiday Lights for Recycling
Recycling drop off available at 5 facilities
Naperville Park District is offering five convenient locations where residents can drop off their nonworking holiday lights for recycling, beginning November 30, 2022 through February 1, 2023.
Holiday lights collection bins will be available at the following Park District locations:
- Alfred Rubin Riverwalk Community Center, 305 W. Jackson Ave. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
- Fort Hill Activity Center, 20 Fort Hill Drive. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday, 5:00 a.m.-10:00 p.m., Saturday, 6:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. and Sunday, 7:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
- Knoch Knolls Nature Center, 320 Knoch Knolls Rd. Hours of operation are: Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m.-12:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
- Springbrook Golf Course Golf Shop, 2220 W. 83rd. St. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily in November, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday in December, and 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday in January.
- Naperbrook Golf Course Golf Shop, 22204 W. Hassert Blvd., Plainfield. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. daily in November, 9:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday in December, and 9:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m. Monday-Saturday in January.

Additionally, the City of Naperville accepts holiday lights for recycling year-round at the Electronics Recycling Center, 156 Fort Hill Drive, Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m.-3:00 p.m.
The following types of lights will be accepted: Mini-lights, C-7 lights, C-9 lights, Rope lights, LED lights and extension cords. All colors and lengths will be accepted. Please remove lights from boxes or bags before dropping them into the containers.

Recycling old, nonworking holiday lights not only keeps them out of landfills, but also recovers valuable resources such as refined copper. Glass and plastic also are extracted from the strands of lights. As part of its commitment to environmental stewardship, Naperville Park District has collected holiday lights since 2010, along with other communities in a regional effort promoted by SCARCE, a DuPage County environmental organization.
