Naperville Park District Votes To Dismiss Suit Against Pritzker
The lawsuit sought to allow the park district to reopen on its own time.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville Park District's Board of Commissioners voted Wednesday to dismiss its lawsuit against Gov. J.B. Pritzker. The lawsuit had been filed in May for the park district to gain authority to reopen its parks and facilities at its own discretion amid the ongoing new coronavirus shutdown.
In a post on the park district's website, officials said phases 3 and 4 of the governor's Restore Illinois plan grant more flexibility, so the suit is no longer necessary. The post reads, in part, "Given the fact that the State of Illinois made changes in Phases 3 and 4 of the Restore Illinois Plan concerning the use of Park District facilities and programs, thereby providing greater flexibility in its operations, the majority of the board concluded that incurring the additional expense of the litigation was not warranted."
