Naperville Police To Crack Down On Drunk Drivers This Halloween
Naperville police plan to increase patrols to target drunk drivers and are urging motorists and pedestrians to exercise caution.
NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police will crack down on drunk drivers as Halloween approaches and is urging drivers and pedestrians to be cautious and practice safety measures.
The police department recommends the following tips as Halloween approaches:
- Have a sober friend drive you home, use a rideshare service or take public transportation
- Have a sober friend walk home with you if you're on foot and have been drinking
- Contact police if you spot an impaired driver on the road
- If you're with someone who has been drinking, do not let them drive home
"Alcohol and marijuana impair not only your ability to drive safely but also your decision-making skills," Naperville Police Sergeant Rick Krakow said in a statement.

He added, "That’s why it's so important to know how you’ll get home before you leave for the party. Plan ahead to help keep yourself and others safe."
Naperville's initiative is part of the Click It or Ticket and Driver Sober or Get Pulled Over campaigns that are funded in part by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
