Naperville Police To Crack Down On Drunk Drivers For St. Patrick's Day
The Naperville police department will increase patrols as part of a statewide effort to curb drunk and impaired driving during the holiday.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Naperville police will increase patrols to target drunk and impaired drivers for St. Patrick's Day.
The safety campaign, which began March 13, will run through the early morning hours of March 23.
“With St. Patrick’s Day falling on a Tuesday this year, we expect celebrations to occur during the week and potentially the weekends before and after,” Naperville Police Department (NPD) Traffic Sgt. Eric Muska said in a statement.

Muska added, “We urge everyone to celebrate responsibly. Plan ahead for a sober ride home before you leave the house — your safety and the safety of others depend on it.”
Increased seatbelt enforcement will also be a priority.

NPD recommends the following measures to help keep the roads safe this St. Patrick's Day.
- Use a designated driver if you will be drinking or otherwise impaired
- Call 911 if you spot a driver who is impaired
- Take keys from friends if they may try to drive drunk or impaired
- Wear a seatbelt
The St. Patrick's Day traffic safety campaign is part of the nationwide "Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over" and "Click It or Ticket" initiatives.
