Naperville Table Tennis Tournament Set for Sat. Jan. 24

Participants and spectators of all ages welcome to enjoy the fun and challenging sport of table tennis.

The annual Naperville Table Tennis Tournament, co-sponsored by the Naperville Park District and the Naperville Table Tennis Club, will take place Sat., January 24 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at River Woods School, located at 2607 River Woods Dr. in Naperville.

The tournament is open to all interested players of any age and experience level. Awards are given by co-ed age divisions for children, and for men and women in the “open” (age 18 and up) and “masters” (age 50 and up) divisions. In addition to involving many players from Naperville, the tournament typically draws players from the entire northern Illinois region.

“We have a diverse group of players and welcome beginners as well as experienced players,” said Naperville Table Tennis Club representative Bill Schafer.

Players can pre-register for the tournament for $8 through the Naperville Park District at www.napervilleparks.org. Onsite registration is $10 and begins at 8:00 a.m. for the adult divisions and at 11:00 a.m. for the youth divisions. Space is limited; any registration after the check-in time will be processed on a space-available basis only.

For those interested in table tennis beyond the tournament, the Naperville Table Tennis Club meets weekly for practices and games. The Club is open to new players and offers a series of 6-week sessions between January and May, with the next session beginning February 23.
