Naperville Time Capsule to be Opened After 50 Years
The capsule will be opened and revealed between 5 and 5:30 p.m. June 4.

NAPERVILLE, IL — A time capsule that was buried 50 years ago is set to be opened Saturday, June 4 in Naperville.
The capsule was buried in 1965 in the Barn Recreation Center. As part of the Barn farewell event, the capsule will be opened before the center is taken down later this summer.

The community is invited to enjoy this free event that will feature three bands, free food and non-alcoholic beverages to the first 250 people and beer and food available for purchase. Inflatables will be available for the kids. Memory Lane, featuring memorabilia from the Barn’s 50-year history also will be displayed. Guests may bring folding chairs or blankets for outdoor seating.
The capsule will be opened and revealed between 5 and 5:30 p.m.

The farewell event will be held from 4 to 9 p.m. Food will be served beginning at 5 pm.
The event will be held just outside the Barn at 421 W. Martin Ave., Naperville. It is scheduled to take place outdoors, weather depending. In the event of inclement weather, the concert may be held indoors and this would limit the number of attendees. If inclement weather is an issue, would-be attendees are encouraged to visit www.napervilleparks.org for information about the event.
