Naperville Twp. Highway Commissioner Sues Township Board
The roads budget was reduced by more than $540,000.

Naperville Township Highway Commissioner Stan Wojtasiak is suing the Naperville Township Board for removing more than $540,000 from his budget.
According to the Chicago Tribune, Wojtasiak rejected an intergovernmental agreement where the City of Naperville would do maintenance on 16 to 20 miles of township road and said the board’s funding cut was an act of retaliation.

“The city has maintained it can do the work for $800,000 less annually than the township, a figure Wojtasiak says is inaccurate,” according to the report.
Naperville Township Supervisor Rachel Ossyra and trustees Janice Anderson and Kerry Malm were named in the suit. According to the report, they voted on May 10 to reduce the roads budget by $544,325.

“The amount of money removed from the roads budget is equal to the projected amount that would have been saved this year had Wojtasiak approved the deal,” according to the article.
Wojtasiak will have to lay off several employees by June 30 if the money is not restored.
