Naperville Vehicle Burglaries Still a Problem
Police say the Felony Lane Gang are still operating in the area.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The rash of vehicle burglaries that have hit Naperville don’t appear to be letting up.
The Felony Lane Gang is known for going through unlocked cars and smashing out windows to grab valuables left inside, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.
Naperville police said in the article that the “group especially targets school drop-off lanes, gyms and other spots where women might leave their purses in the car while dropping off kids, watching sports or taking an exercise class.”

In December, the Naperville Police Department warned residents of the thieves. In a post on the department’s Facebook page, police said these offenders often target women’s purses in locked or unlocked vehicles at daycare centers, school drop-offs, gyms, dog parks, sports facilities, and any other recreational area where purses are routinely locked in cars, placed under a seat, hidden beneath a blanket or secured in a trunk.
Police said the suspects use stolen checks to commit multiple forgeries against victim accounts, always in bank drive-through lanes (and how the group was named).

Although several of these offenders have been identified, investigations are ongoing, and residents are warned not to leave purses with checkbooks and credit cards in unattended vehicles.
