Naperville Votes To Repair Moser Tower
The city voted unanimously Tuesday to repair the beloved landmark.

NAPERVILLE, IL — The Naperville City Council voted unanimously Tuesday to conduct repairs on Moser Tower. The decision comes after the city and its Riverwalk Commission weighed options to either repair the tower, repair it and encase its base in glass or to maintain and then demolish the tower when necessary.
The fate of Moser Tower has been a subject of public discussion since the tower, finished in 2007, first showed signs of deterioration in 2015. Repairs were made to the tower, but a subsequent study done in 2015 showed that it had cracks and corrosion evident.
To repair and maintain the tower will cost the city $2.3 million over 30 years. Naperville city officials included plans for Moser Tower's repair as part of its 2020 budget process. The city says it will calculate 2021 repair costs as part of its budget procedure later in 2020.
