Naperville Woman, Dog Die After Being Struck by Elderly Driver: Police

Emily S. Driscoll, 22, of Naperville was killed in the Sunday night crash. Her dog also died from injuries sustained in the accident.

A 22-year-old Naperville woman and her dog were killed Sunday night after being struck by a car driven by an elderly driver, police said Monday.

Emily S. Driscoll was taken to Edward Hospital following the crash, which happened at the intersection of Book and Rickert roads at 8:15 p.m., where she later died, according to a Naperville Police Department press release.

Police said Driscoll was crossing the street with her dog when she was struck by a 2001 Chevrolet Malibu.

The driver of the Malibu, Kenneth E. Holmberg, 74, of Plainfield, was traveling east on Rickert Road at the time of the crash while Driscoll had been walking north on Book Road, according to the news release.
