NAPERVILLE, IL — After a four-day long trial, a jury found a Naperville in the 2020 murder of her boyfriend, Darnell Manns. Rosa Lagrone, 40, had been charged with five counts of first-degree murder.

Lagrone and Manns were at her home in the 0-100 block of 25W Keswick Lane in unincorporated Naperville around 2:15 p.m. on Nov. 6, 2020, when they got into an argument about another woman, according to a news release from the DuPage County State's Attorney's Office. Lagrone then shot Manns once, hitting his torso and arm and "lodging in his spine," the news release said.

While Manns was lying "on the floor in the background in a pool of blood," Lagrone called the other woman via video chat, the news release said.

“While today’s guilty verdict will not bring Darnell back to those who loved him, it does reveal the truth about what happened on November 6, 2020, and holds Rosa Lagrone accountable for the murder of Darnell Manns,” DuPage County State's Attorney Robert Berlin said in a statement.

He added, “I thank the jury for their service on the very sad case as well as Judge Guerin for ensuring a fair trial for both sides."
