NAPERVILLE, IL — News of a new Costco coming to Naperville's East Ogden Avenue has been met with excitement, but it would likely lead to another of the city's longtime businesses to close. Owners of the Ogden 6 Theatres announced on Facebook Monday that if the deal for Costco goes through, they "will be forced to close the Ogden 6 Theatre to make room."

Costco is currently in the midst of a purchase agreement to buy part of the Ogden Mall that was home to a long-closed KMart store. Ogden 6 owners wrote that they have not been "officially notified" that the deal has closed, but are "heartbroken" by the news that they would have to leave the space they've occupied since 1996.

In the meantime, they are looking into "alternative locations" for the theater.

The news brought a flood of sympathy and comments from Ogden 6 Facebook followers. Matt G. wrote, "I grew up going to the movies here. My sisters and I also all worked there for our first jobs. I worked there for 10 years and have so many fun memories and met so many wonderful people."

Echoing the sentiments of several other posters, Brian O. wrote, "This is a bummer, the Ogden 6 has been always worth the trip from the Northwest side of Chicago. As I am happy that the mall is getting new life, I am also sad that one of the best parts of the mall has to go."
