Nicor Gas Opens Applications for Community and Culture Grants

NAPERVILLE, IL — Nicor Gas announces $100,000 in funding to support community and culture programs. The funding expands the company’s commitment to supporting cultural and community organizations that create engagement in the arts and that help individuals from all backgrounds thrive and reach their full potential.

Qualifying 501(c)(3) organizations may apply for these community and culture pillar grants from Nicor Gas to support their initiatives. Applications are open now and close on June 30, with funding decisions by August 31. Selected nonprofits and community organizations will be eligible to receive up to $5,000 in grant funds this year.

Through our community and culture grants, we’re helping organizations expand access to the arts, boost local talent and create opportunities for everyone to thrive,” said Jackie Nagel, manager of Community Engagement at Nicor Gas.

As the largest natural gas provider in Illinois, Nicor Gas is committed to supporting community and culture programming. Last year, the company awarded $100,000 in community and culture grants to 22 organizations. Grants included:

One Mind Inc. — Supported a youth leadership and cultural engagement program including public speaking, arts education and community service.

Freeport Art Museum - Supported a collaborative partnership integrating high-quality, hands-on art activities into established after-school programs.
