North Aurora Road Closure To Be In Effect Through July

Traffic will be closed in both directions on part of North Aurora Road as crews work to widen the roadway.

NAPERVILLE, IL — Part of North Aurora Road will be closed for a four-month stretch as crews work to widen the road as part of the North Aurora Road Improvement Project.

The closure will impact traffic from Pennsbury Lane to Frontenac Road starting March 31 and is expected to last through July.

A detour will be available via Diehl Road and North Aurora Road will remain accessible to local traffic between Eola Road and Pennsbury Lane and Route 59 and Frontenac Road. Businesses will also be accessible.

During, the upcoming closure workers will relocate a gas pipeline and reshape the street ahead of a temporary railroad bridge installation that is planned for this summer.

A subsequent closure of North Aurora Road is planned for the fall as crews begin work to replace the Canadian National/Wisconsin Central Railroad bridge.

In 2023, the first phase of work on the North Aurora Road Improvement Project began, with the road being widened from three lanes to five lanes. Sidewalks, a sound wall and a trail were also added.
