North Central College recently made U.S. News & World Report's 2022 roundup of the Best Regional Universities in the midwest.

NAPERVILLE, IL — North Central College recently made U.S. News & World Report's 2022 roundup of the Best Regional Universities in the midwest. The Naperville college came in at #17 on the list, which was compiled by evaluating 1,500 universities throughout the United States.
In total, 167 midwestern universities were ranked on the 2022 U.S. News & World Report roundup.
In its evaluation process, U.S. News & World Report ranked schools on the following metrics:

- Graduation and retention rates
- Graduation rate performance
- Social mobility
- Undergraduate academic reputation
- Faculty resources for 2021-22 academic year
- Financial resources per student
- Graduate indebtedness
- Average alumni giving rate
- Student selectivity for fall 2021 entering class
Some factors weighed within these metrics included standardized test scores, class sizes, faculty salaries and first-year retention rates. Each category was weighted for a possible total score of 100 points.
North Central College earned a 72 out of the possible 100, according to U.S. News & World Report's methodology. The college came in ahead of University of Illinois Springfield, which was ranked at #20. Lewis University in Romeoville was ranked at #22.
