Francis “Fran” Weber, 80, of Plainfield, formerly of Posen, IL, passed away peacefully at home on Sunday, August 10, 2025.

Born June 25, 1945, in Little Flower Parish on Chicago’s South Side to Louis and Mary Jane (Mooney) Weber. He was raised and educated in the parish community. He married Katherine “Kitty” Cronk on June 14, 1969, at Visitation Church, and together they raised their family in Posen.
Fran was a proud member of the Electrician’s Union Local 134, where he worked for 55 years before retiring. He loved spending time with his family, made friends wherever he went, and was a devoted sports fan. Fran co-founded a basketball league for the South Side Catholic Suburban Diocese, served as a referee and umpire, and coached numerous teams. One of his favorite pastimes was completing the Sunday crossword puzzle.

Fran is survived by his beloved wife, Kitty; children James Weber, Thomas (Tricia) Weber, Tracy (Robert) Sebastian, and Jennifer Weber; and grandchildren Richard H. III and Kierra Nashkoff, Bridget, Brett, Brooke, and Brynna Weber, and Cori and Kyle Sebastian. Also surviving are siblings Madeline (Ted) Curran, Thomas Weber, and Mary Jane (Michael) Wilkins; sisters-in-law Sharon Weber and Joanne Weber; and many nieces and nephews.
Fran was preceded in death by his parents and siblings John (Eileen) Weber, Marilyn (Frank) Edelen, William Weber, James Weber, and Patrick Weber.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for them to establish a memorial in Fran’s name.
Visitation will be Sunday, September 14, 2025, from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. A private immediate family inurnment will be at St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, Evergreen Park, IL.
