Obituary: Geraldine E. Lubway

Beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passes away at the age of 104.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Geraldine E. Lubway

Age 104, of Phoenix, Arizona, and formerly Rock Island and New Lenox, Illinois, passed away peacefully at the Sherman House in Phoenix.

"Geri" was born on February 23, 1921, in Chicago where she was raised and educated.

She married Edmund Lubway and soon after, they moved to New Lenox where they resided for many years, raising their son Lawrence and daughter Mary.

Geri worked for the Department of the Army with APSA, finishing her career in Rock Island and eventually moving to be near family in Phoenix, where she thrived, enjoying more than two decades in the "Valley".

Surviving are her daughter, Mary Egle; granddaughter, Lisa (Mike) Pearson; grandson, Todd (Vanessa) Egle; great-grandchildren, MacKenzie (Mikey) Ramirez, Braelyn Pearson, Ryan, Emery and Harrison Egle. She will also be missed by her nieces and other family members.

Preceded in death by her husband, Edmund; son, Lawrence "Larry" and her parents.

Geri's family will always remember and be thankful to the staffs of the Hospice of the Valley, Sherman House, for the wonderful care and compassion shown to their mother and grandmother.

All friends and relatives are invited to gather at St. Ann Catholic Church, 24500 Navajo Drive, in Channahon, Illinois, on Friday, October 17, 2025 at 9:45 am. Geri's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Fr. John Klein will officiate. Committal prayers and Interment will follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Joliet, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Geri's name can be made to the Sherman House, 5801 E. Mayo Blvd, Phoenix, AZ, 85054 or Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E. Flower St.
