Beloved great-great-grandfather passes away at 100 years old.

Miguel Herrera

Miguel Herrera, age 100, of Joliet, passed away Saturday, January 17, 2026 at St. Joseph Medical Center, Joliet.

Born July 19, 1925 in Durango, Mexico, he was the son of Timoteo and Juanita (Marquez) Herrera.

Surviving are his loving children, Guadalupe (Maria del Refugio) Herrera, Estela (Miguel) Rodriguez and Jesus (Maria Otilia) Herrera; his grandchildren, Norma Herrera, Miguel (Raquel) Rodriguez, Saul (Delia) Rodriguez, Cesar Herrera, David (Monica) Herrera, the late Daniel Rodriguez, Oscar Herrera and Jessica (Jorge) Padilla; his great-grandchildren, Crystal (Adrian) Bernal, Mariano Terrazas, Yariel Terrazas, Estrella Rodriguez, Saul Rodriguez, Jr., Alonso Rodriguez, Cesar Leonardo Herrera, Catalina Herrera, Carolina Herrera, Danica Herrera, Eligio Herrera, Ivan Padilla, Daniela Padilla, Olivia Padilla, and Aaron Padilla; and three great-great-grandchildren, Daniel Arroyo, Luna Arroyo, and Esme Bernal.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Josefa Herrera (February 3, 2017); a grandson, Daniel Rodriguez (2008); three brothers, Luis, Juan Francisco, and Roberto; and one sister, Isabel.

Visitation for Miguel Herrera will be held Wednesday, January 21, 2026, from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Thursday, January 22, 2026, at 9:30 a.m., from the funeral home to St. Mary Immaculate Catholic Church, 129 S. Division Street,. (Route 59) in Plainfield, IL, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow in St. Mary Immaculate Cemetery, Plainfield.

Nacido el 19 de julio de 1925 en Durango, México, era hijo de Timoteo y Juanita (Marquez) Herrera.

Le sobreviven sus amados hijos, Guadalupe (Maria del Refugio) Herrera, Estela (Miguel) Rodriguez y Jesus (Maria Otilia) Herrera; sus nietos, Norma Herrera, Miguel (Raquel) Rodriguez, Saul (Delia) Rodriguez, Cesar Herrera, David (Monica) Herrera, el difunto Daniel Rodriguez, Oscar Herrera y Jessica (Jorge) Padilla; sus bisnietos, Crystal (Adrian) Bernal, Mariano Terrazas, Yariel Terrazas, Estrella Rodriguez, Saul Rodriguez, Jr., Alonso Rodriguez, Cesar Leonardo Herrera, Catalina Herrera, Carolina Herrera, Danica Herrera, Eligio Herrera, Ivan Padilla, Daniela Padilla, Olivia Padilla y Aaron Padilla; y tres tataranietos, Daniel Arroyo, Luna Arroyo y Esme Bernal.

Le precedieron en la muerte su amada esposa, Josefa Herrera (3 de febrero de 2017); un nieto, Daniel Rodriguez (2008); tres hermanos, Luis, Juan Francisco y Roberto; y una hermana, Isabel.

El velorio de Miguel Herrera se llevará a cabo el miércoles 21 de enero de 2026, de 4:00 a 8:00 p.m., en la Funeraria Fred C. Dames, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Los servicios fúnebres se realizarán el jueves 22 de enero de 2026, a las 9:30 a.m., saliendo de la funeraria hacia la Iglesia Católica St. Mary Immaculate, 129 S. Division Street (Ruta 59) en Plainfield, IL, donde se celebrará una Misa de Cuerpo Presente a las 10:30 a.m. El sepelio se realizará posteriormente en el Cementerio St. Mary Immaculate, Plainfield.
