Obituary: Sandra L. Hurst

Her memory will remain a source of inspiration and a reminder of the beauty in living a life guided by love and humility.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Sandra L. Hurst

Sandy Hurst, age 76, of Shorewood passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 4, 2025, at Lightways Hospice Home. She was born on October 16, 1948, in Portage, Wisconsin.

She married the love of her life, Jerrold C. Hurst in 1967, and they enjoyed 50 years of marriage until his passing on February 24, 2018.

Sandy was known for her gentle presence and boundless generosity. She and Jerrold were members of the ISOA Triumph Car Club for over 20 years, making many trips around the country and making many lifelong friends. They also enjoyed spending the winter months in Florida. Other interests included Bunco, going to the movies with friends, and volunteering at the food pantry.

Sandy is survived by her son, David (Katy) Hurst of Lombard and daughter, Carrie (Erik) Eichhorn of Minooka; sister, Bonnie Stibb; sister-in-law, Sandy Hurst; brother-in-law, Joel (Diana) Hurst; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and many good friends.

In addition to her beloved husband, Sandy is also preceded in death by her mother, Alice Stibb; sisters, Bernice Stump, Margie Heinz, Patsy Wearne; and brother, Victor Stibb.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in her name to the Illinois Northern Food Bank, 171 S. Larkin Ave, Joliet, IL 60436, would be appreciated.

Visitation for Sandy will be Thursday, May 8, 2025, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd (at Essington Rd) Joliet. Funeral services will be Friday morning, May 9, 2025, 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville.
