NAPERVILLE, IL — Oswald's Pharmacy in Naperville announced Tuesday that it will begin offering rapid coronavirus testing starting October 15. The tests can provide results in roughly 15 minutes, according to a news release from the pharmacy.

The test the pharmacy will offer will be more gentle than the standard coronavirus test, Oswald's Pharmacy Manager Alex Anderson said in the news release. "While you can go just about anywhere for a test, we’ve heard from many customers that it can take up to a week to receive results," Anderson said.

He added, "This test differs from tests that use the deep nasopharyngeal swab and need to be sent to a lab. It’s an FDA Emergency Use Authorization approved test that generates results in just 15 minutes. A gentle nasal swab just half an inch to 1 inch deep in your nostrils is all the test needs for proper results."

Customers must sign up in advance for the rapid coronavirus testing. Tests will be performed in a drive-up manner in the parking lot of Oswald's, so customers won't even need to get out of their cars.

Anderson said the testing service costs $99 out of pocket, adding that "under most private and public insurance companies, it may be covered under the CARES act."
