Paczki Day 2020: Where To Find Paczki In The Western Suburbs

WESTERN SUBURBS — Fat Tuesday comes but once a year, and with it the promise of those deep-fried Polish confections that many find as hard to resist as they can be to pronounce: paczki. The beloved donut-like treats will be available in and around Chicago's western suburbs on Paczki Day 2020, which falls on Tuesday, Feb. 25.

Some bakeries require paczki pre-orders before Fat Tuesday and others will have a limited amount of paczki on Feb. 25. Here's a roundup of where you can buy paczki in the area.

DeEtta's Bakery
428 W. 5th Ave., Naperville

DeEtta's is accepting pre-orders of six paczki at a time before the big day of Feb. 25. On Fat Tuesday, you can still stop in to swoop up a paczki if you're quick enough. They come in apricot, blueberry, cheese, cherry, lemon, prune, and raspberry. Special paczki flavors include chocolate-frosted custard and strawberry topped with whipped cream.

Vanilla Sugar Bakery
540 Duane St., Glen Ellyn

The cutoff has already passed to get in a pre-order at Vanilla Sugar Bakery, but they promise to have their display cases filled to with plenty of paczki for you to buy in-store on Fat Tuesday. If they're all as delectable as this Oreo cream pie paczki, we think it'll be worth the trip.

Lilac Bakery
348 S. Main St., Lombard

Customers have until Feb. 22 to get their paczki pre-orders in. You can also stop in on Fat Tuesday to snag a paczki in one of more than a dozen delicious flavors that include apricot, cherry cream cheese, chocolate silk, lemon, poppyseed, raspberry and strawberry.

Kirsten's Danish Bakery
94 Burr Ridge Parkway, Burr Ridge

Kirsten's will offer an extensive variety of paczki on Fat Tuesday. The sweet selection runs the gamut from traditional flavors like blueberry, custard, and buttercream to inventive creations like the maple bacon paczki.

Sylvia's
8117 Cass Ave., Darien

Sylvia's promises to have paczki available every day from Feb. 20 through March 1. They're opening up at 5 a.m. on Feb. 24 and Feb. 24 to make sure everyone can get their paczki fix. The March 1 cutoff means you'll have nearly a full week to enjoy paczki even after Fat Tuesday.
